Leon Thompson

Born in 1976 and from Sunderland in the north east of England, Leon Thompson first got into music by joining a local choir at St Chads Church just before he became a teenager. Leon then learned to play the keyboard at the age of 12 and learned to play tunes by ear. As he was growing up through the 90's he realized that his passion in life was about music and got influenced by a lot of bands especially the Prodigy and their unique sound. This gave him the inspiration then and still to this day to write tracks of his own. After gaining a City & Guilds in programming in 'C' in 1993, he then completed a radio production course at the Wear FM radio station now called Sun FM where he also helped out with the Keith Laws dance shows on a night. After gaining his certificate in Radio Production, he decided he wanted to test his own music in a local night club to see how the people would respond to it. The local DJ there played one of his track's to about a hundred people and Leon could only look in amazement as he was surprised and overwhelmed at how well people in the club responded to it. This gave him the driving inspiration to write more new material. The next thing Leon wanted to do was to expand his knowledge in music so he studied at Newcastle College where he gained a HND in music production in 2005. It wasn't until then when Leon first broke into the music industry when he was asked to put his keyboard wizardry skills onto a track for Demolition Records. He then moved to a different part of Sunderland, where he designed and drew up plans to convert his loft into his own personal studio. Seen by his friends as a pioneer of creating syncopated grooves, Leon joined up with Boom! Music in 2008, which allowed him to put his stamp on his first releases with "Pump It Up", "Like This", and "Xeon". Part of his publishing deal with Boom! Music means that not only does he provide high quality music for use in all media including advertising, broadcast, film and events, making his music available as production music, he can work with any other labels outside of Boom! Music as he is not strictly tied to them.
