ANCIENT BABY aka JONNY THICKETT played drums and percussion in various styles for many bands since the mid 1970’s to the mid 80's. Some of these being, Talisman, The Buzz, Toy Guns & Telepaths. From the late 80’s he moved over to guitar & vocals to front his own bands and continues to be predominantly a Singer / Songwriter. He obtained a double distinction BTEC in music Technology at the RNC Hereford, England. He lived in & around Skibbereen, Co. Cork, Ireland for several years and Roadie'd for Patti Smith, David Gray, Ron Sexsmith, Afro celt sound system, Bernard Butler, Pulp and Nick Cave to mention a few, at the Lissard Foundation in Castletownshend, Co Cork. He was on the main stage as technician for Ian Brown, Primal Scream, Leftfield and others in 2000 for the "Homelands" tour, Drogheda, Dublin. He breifly formed a 3 peice rock band based in Skibbereen, with Les Sampson, drums. Ron Bending, bass and jammed with Noel Reading's band (of the Jimi Hendrix experience) in Clonakilty. He has written and composed a few albums; "LAVENDER FROG" (1991), "BRAND NEW ANTIQUE"(1992), "BALLYMACROWN"(1996), "PHILANTHROPIC ROAD" (2004), "GHOST WITHOUT A FACE" (2007). He mixed and produced all his albums on which he sings, plays guitars, bass, drums, percussion & keyboards. He is involved in a number of collaborations & always looking for people to write with.
